Encroachment prohibited
ITANAGAR, Dec 10: The Capital District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Mige Kamki has prohibited any kind of trespass/ encroachment by way of jungle clearance/ earth cutting/ road construction or any other activities in the abandoned Green Field Airport area near Dobum, Karsingsa under the Banderdewa circle. Anyone found violating this order shall be prosecuted as per law without further notice, the notice read.
The DC further directed that the Banderdewa Circle Officer and Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) shall ensure compliance of the order and keep the area free from any kind of encumbrance/ encroachment unless otherwise directed by the competent authority for the bonafide use of the Government.
The magistrate issued this order following the reported encroachment in the aforesaid area. The land is under absolute possession of the Government (Forest Department). Illegal encroachment of Forest land/ Government land is not permissible under law, it said.
One dies in Aalo accident
Aalo, Dec 10: A driver of a tractor died yesterday when his vehicle turned turtle. The accident happened when the speeding tractor hit a post near the DC’s office. The injured driver was rushed to the General hospital Aalo where he was declared dead.

AALO, Dec 10: West Siang District Magistrate, Pige Ligu in an executive order prohibited collection of minor minerals like boulders, sand, shingles etc. from the bank of Sipu and Yomgo River within the Aalo Township to prevent soil erosion and flooding.

AKKDSU foundation day observed

Tribal languages on the brink of perishing: Linguist

ITANAGAR, Dec 10: “If things goes in same pattern, in another 50 years, the tribal languages may extinct from Arunachal,” said Prof Scott C Delancey, Head, Department of Linguistic, Oregon University, USA, expressing deep concern over threat posed to tribal languages in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Prof Scott, who is currently visiting Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills has sounded the alarm bell for the tribal people of Arunachal who are facing serious challenges because of onslaught of Hindi and English languages.
The situation is so alarming that renowned Linguist fear that unless proper steps are taken, Arunachalee tribal will suffer the same fate like that of native Americans.
“50 years ago native Red Indian community faced the same situation like the Arunachalee tribal are facing now. They had no choice but to adopt English and now most of the tribal languages are extinct from USA. It’s a tragedy,” says Prof Scott.
Having travelled across the North East region, he says that Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Boro’s of Assam have fiercely protected their cultural identity and languages, due to which they have somehow, managed to neutralize the influence of Hindi. Further, he added that unless tribal community shows will and take steps to save tribal languages, situation will go from bad to worse. As a measure, he says that Hindi should be introduced only at secondary level and in primary level; indigenous tribal languages should be the focus. About the lack of script among tribal communities, Prof Scott believes that Roman script can very much be used to educate children in tribal languages. He also added that Government of India should play their part and support the initiative to save tribal languages. “Government at the centre and the state should maintain neutrality. They need to understand the sensitivity of tribal community and help the effort to preserve the dying unique languages. Once these languages get extinct, with them, rich history of tribal communities will die too,” said Prof Scott.

Tuki appeals DoNER ministry for timely release of fund
‘Rs. 106 Crores released for ongoing project in Arunachal’
NEW DELHI, Dec 10: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today called on Union Minister of DoNER Dr. Jitender Singh in New Delhi and requested him for early and timely sanctions and release of funds to the North Eastern states keeping in view the limited working season due to monsoon and rains. The CM was accompanied by Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi and Secretary Planning Sonam Chombay. The meeting was also attended by senior DoNER officials including Secretary and Joint Secretary.
The Union Minister appreciated and accepted the suggestions made by the Chief Minister and also agreed to take up major issues raised by him with various Ministries for projects like Green Field Airport, Mulitpurpose Outdoor Stadium at Itanagar, Inter State Roads, Transmission Lines and Sub stations.
Union Minister, in principle, agreed to provide additional funds for the Civil Secretariat and Assembly building.
Union Minister and Secretary DoNER appreciated the State Government for the progress of projects with respect to timely implementation, submission of utilization certificates and release of State shares. The DONER officials informed the CM that so far Rs. 106 Crores has been released to the State Government for ongoing projects and said that Arunachal Pradesh is the best performing state in the North Eastern region in terms of progress and utilization of the funds. CM concerned at repeated fire incidents, announces relief for Sine
ITANAGAR, Dec 10: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has expressed shock and concern over the latest fire mishap at Sine village in Siang district on Sunday last.
The fire destroyed at least 32 of the 64 houses in the village which is located 31 kms from Boleng.
In a statement this evening, Tuki expressed grave concern over repeated incidents of fire mishaps from across the state, particularly from the central region of the state. He reiterated his appeal to people to take preventive measures to avoid fire accidents and remain extra cautious during winters. He observed that remote villages of the state are prone to fire accidents, especially during the winters, and therefore called for extra vigilance by the administration as well as citizens.
“In case of fire, the impact is always heavy as houses made of thatch and bamboos in our villages are situated in clusters and most of these villages are inaccessible by fire tenders,” Tuki pointed while emphasizing on preventive measures rather than dousing the fire.
The Chief Minister, meanwhile, took stock of the situation and appreciated the Siang district administration for taking prompt action in offering relief to the victims. Under his direction, the concerned department has released an amount of Rs 4.16 lakhs to the Siang district administration for disbursement to victim households as relief assistance. As per norms the 32 victim households would receive an amount of Rs 13000 each. This is in addition to the relief assistance of Rs 2000 each already provided by the district administration.
“I once again appeal from the core of my heart to remain ever vigilant against any spark that may trigger such mishaps anytime of the year. Fire accidents are results of our own carelessness and neglect therefore it is up to us – individuals – to help prevent it,” Tuki added in the statement.

Child labour is serious issue in our state too. In many homes, young girl children from neighbouring state Assam works as house maid and some of them live miserable life. Both Arunachalee society as well as state government has failed to check such illegal practice. Instead of getting education these children are forced to work to feed their respective families. However worryingly for our state, off late even tribal children’s are dropping out of school in big numbers in order to support their families. Kailash Satyarthi’s continuous fight against child labour has got international recognization and hopefully this will inspire people of Arunachal to take up cudgel against this evil practice.

As a commoner living the life of a so called middle class and lower class in the twin capital, it’s hard to survive.
The rising prices of the goods and commodities are totally out of control. It seems like the commodities with MRPs written on it are sold at a higher price. The organic vegetables sold in the daily markets are no less than an item in a jeweler’s shop. It has totally hardened the life of a common general public to sustain.
It is an appeal to the concern Authorities and the Market welfare associations and the consumers to regularize the price for the benefit of the commoners. It seems that the term MRP is no longer used in the shops and markets in the Capital and state.

Through the esteemed column of your newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the people and concern authorities regarding cremation of dead bodies in Eze (Deopani) River bank.
Although it is a religious practice for some to cremate bodies but here in Roing, people do not burn the bodies properly. Bodies are half burnt and the remains are just simply left on the bank of the river. As we know that water is the source of life, it is used by all for various activities. But what happens when the sources of life becomes the reason for various diseases. So it is a humble request to the people of Roing to do the burning completely.
Ashes can be thrown but half burnt bodies should not be thrown into the river. Due to this irresponsible activity the hygiene and cleanliness of the river and its surroundings is gradually deteriorating.
So let’s preserve water and environment for healthy living of all.

In support of AAPSU
Dear Editor,
Rajiv Gandhi University Research Scholars’ Forum (RGURSF) has resolved to extend a strong support to the All Arunachal Pradesh Student’s Union (AAPSU) demands for introduction of new disciplines at under graduate level in Govt, colleges, appointment of required Assistant Professor Posts in colleges and feasible fee structure for B.Ed course in the state.
It is pertinent to mention that under the UGC guidelines, student’s teacher ratio has been fixed at 30:1 which has to be maintained by every degree colleges of the state but it has not been maintained by the government of Arunachal Pradesh. It has found that many of the colleges of state are running with basic shortages like teacher and infrastructure facilities which itself is a violation of UGC norms. There are many unemployed youths who have cleared NET/JRF /SLET and PhD holders as well.
Further, we appeal to the state government to genuinely address the demands for greater interest of student’s community and the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

The little views written by various informed readers are making the public aware
of the activities of GoAP and her various departments. And I think if all the informed
office bearers begin to write about malfunctioning and malpractices of their concerned
departments, many genuine problems that are ruining our AP government and society
will come up in public and would act as a beginning for corruption free and pro-
I would especially take this opportunity to request journalists, RTI activists, Elite societies, professors and student unions of AP, to take up the contradictory land allotment policy bill passed by GoAP and amend it so as to make it sensible. This issue would have far reaching consequence in the context of encroachment of government land by people. Already many Govt. quarters and land have been encroached by people. Such land allotment policy would encourage people to encroach govt. land indiscriminately.
This bill is an open demonstration of how the elected leaders are making fool of the people of AP who elected them. This is also the result of the silence of thousands of educated youths, officer bearers and public of AP.
Once again, I would request all to write their views at least to this newspaper, so as to directly and precisely convey the views of the public to their elected leaders.

Be responsible
Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to draw the attention of the public regarding fire accidents. As winter is approaching, people use fire to cope with the weather. But they usually do not take care of it anymore after they warm themselves. The elders leave it in the hands of young ones who are not aware of what destruction fire can cause. We do not give much attention to a distinguishing fire and just leave it. This foolishness leaves us in tragedy and huge destruction of properties.
Fire is a friend and a foe. We should be aware that a small fire can ignite and burn everything into ashes. Ignorance is one of the main reasons by which we are victims of fire.
So we should give prior attention even to a small unit of fire. I urge the people to be responsible. Take responsibility and be more careful regarding fire accidents and destructions.
